HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2013

The Oakland Republican Club wishes everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year in 2013. It is our great hope that leaders of our local governing body will work together in 2013 for the betterment of all Oaklanders and not in the self interests of their political party. There is enough room at the table for all to sit.

As President John F. Kennedy once said “So let us begin anew, remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems, which divide us. Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”

BREAKING NEWS

In light of the Mayor's apology at the October 24th Council meeting regarding her article in the Fall issue of the Oakland Crossroads, and in the sprit of cooperation and Bipartisanship, we have withdrawn the article regarding the 2012 Budget and the incorrect categorization that the Zero tax increase for 2012 in our Municipal Taxes was the result of using Surplus or Trust Fund monies to achieve that stabilization.

The Zero percent tax increase for 2012 was achieved through the hard work and cooperation of all Borough Department Heads, Committees made up of hard working Volunteers and the continued forward fiscal planning that has been the hallmark of the the Republican Lead Council since 2006.
